Features:

Hardware Calibration for Better Color

CG223WColorEdge monitors offer hardware calibration which means color settings are adjusted inside the monitor so there is no displayable loss of tonalities. This produces more predictable results and ensures color display is much more uniform between ColorEdge units.

Simple and Precise Calibration with ColorNavigator

The bundled ColorNavigator software makes calibration both simple and quick. Just input target values for brightness, white point, and gamma. ColorNavigator works with a wide range of measurement devices to directly utilize the monitor's look-up table and create an ICC profile within minutes. What's more, you can always download the latest version of ColorNavigator for free here on eizo.com.

Wide Color Gamut

Color reproduction areaThe monitor reproduces 95% of the Adobe RGB color space and comes with an sRGB preset mode to reproduce this smaller but commonly used color space. For work in broadcasting or digital cinema, preset modes that reproduce the PAL/SECAM, HDTV, SMPTE-C, and DCI color spaces are also included.

Three Inputs Including DisplayPort

Connect with up to three PCs via the monitor's dual DVI-I inputs which accept digital and analog signals, and the DisplayPort (digital) input terminals. DisplayPort is next-generation connectivity that transmits both video and audio signals.

10-Bit Simultaneous Display

The monitor can display 10-bit color from a 16-bit look-up table via its DisplayPort input*. This is more than 1 billion colors shown simultaneously which is 64 times greater than the 16.7 million colors of 8-bit display. The result is even smoother color gradations and reduced Delta-E between two adjacent colors.

*A graphics board and software which support 10-bit output are also necessary for 10-bit display.

Brightness and Color Uniformity with DUE

Fluctuations in brightness and chroma on different parts of the screen are a common trait of LCD monitors. To counteract this, the monitor incorporates an EIZO-developed digital uniformity equalizer (DUE). DUE ensures a Delta-E difference of 3 or less across the screen when the monitor leaves the factory.

Factory Adjustment of Gamma

To ensure that each ColorEdge monitor produces the most accurate and consistent color gradations possible, EIZO carefully measures and sets every shade of R, G, and B from 0 − 255 on the production line with the monitor's 16-bit Look-Up Table, to produce a monitor gamma value of 2.2. Should the user prefer a different value, ColorNavigator software can be used to set the gamma value from a range of 1.0 up to 2.6 in increments of 0.1.

Verification Documents Included

EIZO stands behind the quality of the ColorEdge series by including two verification documents with each monitor. One document verifies the uniformity on 25 points across the screen while the other certifies that all 256 color tones on the gamma curve were individually adjusted at the factory.

Brightness and Color Temperature Stability

To ensure proper display of color, the ColorEdge CG223W comes equipped with patented EIZO technology that stabilizes the monitor’s brightness level after startup or coming out of power saving mode. Furthermore, a temperature sensor detects and automatically suppresses changes in color and brightness caused by fluctuations in the surrounding temperature.

3D LUT for Better Additive Color Mixture

The monitor utilizes a new EIZO-developed 3D LUT. Whereas a typical 1D LUT adjusts color on separate tables for each red, green, and blue, a 3D LUT accomplishes this on a single, mixed-color cubic table. A 3D LUT improves the monitor's additive color mixture (combination of RGB), a key factor in its ability to display neutral gray tones.

Ideal for Moving Image Work, Too

An overdrive circuit is included to reduce gray-to-gray response time to 6 ms and ensure that moving images look clean and sharp with an absolute minimum of blurring and ghosting.

Brightness Stabilization From the Minute You Turn It On

An EIZO-patented drift correction sensor quickly stabilizes the brightness level after startup or coming out of power saving mode. Furthermore, the monitor detects and compensates for brightness changes caused by surrounding temperatures and the passage of time.

Color Vision Deficiency Simulation

To avoid creating inconveniences and even dangers for those with color vision deficiency, care must be taken when choosing color schemes for everyday items such as maps, road signs, web sites, and power indicator lights. This monitor can instantly simulate how still and moving images appear to people with two types of red-green (protanopia and deuteranopia) and one type of blue-yellow (tritanopia) color vision deficiency.

Graphics professionals often work in a dimly lit environment which can make it difficult to read a monitor's adjustment buttons. The ColorEdge CG223W, however, includes an on-screen button guide that labels what each of the buttons are for so you can easily navigate the OSD menu.

Commitment to Quality

While outsourcing production is now common practice in the monitor industry, EIZO continues to manufacture its products the same way it has throughout its 40 year history – with its own staff at its own factories. This allows EIZO to keep close control over production quality and offer the industry's only 5-year manufacturer's limited warranty.

Customer Assurance

A five-year warranty offers a long service life, and compliance with leading industry standards such as TCO'03 and TÜV Ergonomics ensures a better working environment. It also fulfills Fogra's Monitor PreCert Class B criteria for monitors to be used in FograCert Softproofing Systems.

View Monitor

“EcoView” embodies EIZO’s concept of combining ergonomic and environmental features for an economical result. An EcoView monitor delivers increased comfort, reduced environmental burden, and ultimately lower running costs. It is ideal for corporate and government facilities as well as small and home offices that are concerned with the environment but require a high-quality monitor.

All about EcoView

Three Inputs Including DisplayPort

Connect with up to three PCs via the monitor's D-Sub (analog), DVI-D (digital), and DisplayPort (digital) input terminals. DisplayPort is next-generation connectivity that transmits both video and audio signals.

EIZO’s EcoView Sense feature unites convenience with energy savings by ensuring that the monitor automatically conserves power when it is not in use. EcoView Sense is an integrated presence sensor that prompts the monitor to switch to power save mode when it does not detect your presence for 40 seconds, and then resume normal operation when you return. To prevent the screen from reactivating when it shouldn't, EcoView Sense differentiates between your presence and a still object like an empty chair or general office activity in the background.

Thinner and Lighter
Compoents Image
Compared to a previous FlexScan 24" model, this monitor's slimmed-down cabinet design cuts the use and weight of sheet metal components, shown here, by up to 90%.

Optimized Brightness with Auto EcoView
Watch the video
Watch the video >>

An Auto EcoView sensor on the front of the monitor measures ambient light and optimizes the screen's brightness to levels akin to viewing a sheet of paper under typical office lighting conditions. Since the screen is never too bright, eye strain is reduced while power consumption is cut by up to 40% compared to operating the monitor with Auto EcoView turned off and set to the default factory brightness of 100%.

Zero Watts When Turned Off

When the monitor’s power save mode and off timer function are set, it consumes less than 1.5 watts of power, and when turned off via the main power switch, it consumes no electricity at all.

Energy Efficiency Gauge
Watch the video
Watch the video >>

To encourage environmental consciousness while working, a user-activated gauge called "EcoView Index" indicates energy consumption in correlation with the screen’s brightness. When EcoView Index is fully illuminated, the monitor is operating at optimum energy efficiency.

Integrated Speaker

A 0.35-watt speaker is built into the front bezel for listening to news programs. A headphone jack is located on the side of the monitor.

Improved Work Efficiency, Reduced Visual Fatigue

EIZO conducted a survey (see white paper) in 2008 to establish the relationship between eye fatigue and monitor use. The results showed that features like Auto EcoView, ergonomic stands, and the EyeCare utility helped reduce eye fatigue and improved work efficiency by 12.5%.

EyeCare Utility

EyeCare ReminderEIZO’s new EyeCare utility prompts workers to take scheduled breaks, thereby promoting healthier work habits and preventing eye fatigue caused by prolonged monitor use.

DVI Input Level Adjustment

The monitor compensates for image quality degradation that may occur when connecting to a signal switch box or to a PC via a long cable.

Individual Adjustment of Gamma

For better image consistency in multi-monitor environments, EIZO adjusts the gamma at the factory.

Commitment to Quality

While outsourcing production is now common practice in the monitor industry, EIZO continues to manufacture its products the same way it has throughout its 40 year history – with its own staff at its own factories. This allows EIZO to keep close control over production quality and offer the industry’s only 5-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.

Customer Assurance
