Fine Art Printing

(aka Pigment Ink Printing on Archival Papers or 'Giclee Printing')

Image Science uses state of the art Epson 7900 and Epson 9900 pigment ink printers, along with top end colour management, to produce fine art gallery prints of the highest quality, up to 1.1m wide by almost any length!

These are the latest, fastest, and most importantly best quality fine art archival printing machines in the world today.  And we run them with our typical approach - backed by science, hard work and very intensive testing, we can get results from these machines no other service in Australia can provide.

We offer prints on the finest available fine art archival papers and canvases, at surprisingly reasonable prices. Our service is fully ICC profiled, allowing you to get an accurate soft-proof of your final print before printing (you must of course use a calibrated screen for an accurate proof!).

The prints produced are known as 'Pigment on Cotton', 'Pigment on Rag' or 'Giclee Prints'. Pigments on cotton rag papers have proven to be highly archival (consider for example Rembrandt's etchings - they were made using pigment inks on cotton papers).

The process we use is now generally regarded as one of the most stable colour printing processes available at this time - far more stable than traditional RA4 chemistry (i.e. photographic lab) prints - and more beautiful as well! Even Cibachrome/Ilfochrome and traditional fibre based black and white prints no longer offer any advantage over the pigment on rag process, with manufacturer independent testing suggesting life spans of pigment prints comparable to, or exceeding, traditional silver based chemistry prints.

There is currently no other process that offers the combination of flexibility, control, beauty and longevity of Pigment on Cotton.

We can print on common sheet sizes (A4, A3 and A3 plus) and on 24 inch wide (61.0 cm) or 44 inch wide (111.7 cm) rolls for bigger prints. If you are printing mulitple images, you are welcome to lay them out on a 24 or 44 inch wide sheet and take advantage of the cheaper pricing of roll prints.
