About Us

Since 2001, Image Science has been offering digital imaging products, services and expertise to photographers and printers around Australia.

Image quality is always our key consideration.

Our goal is to become partners with our clients in the creation of beautiful images and world class prints.

The 4 key things that make us different:

  • Detailed Knowledge (and an open attitude to sharing that knowledge - does any other imaging business in Australia have a Knowledge section like ours?)
  • Real World Experience (we use all the products we sell on a daily basis)
  • Attractive Pricing (we work harder because we're small business owners, not large business employees!)
  • Only Genuine Australian Stock (NO grey imports!) - supported by us, and the local agents/importers.  This means no warranty hassles!
  • Fantastic Personal Service

We aim to be an extremely helpful and open business and we're always happy to discuss any special needs you might have, bulk rates, and offer general imaging advice. So, get in touch and give us a try!

Our Staff

Image Science is a deliberately small, highly customer focussed and family run business, and currently has five members of staff - all are very friendly and will be happy to help you in any way they can. We've achieved steady growth over the past 10 years and plan to be here for many more!

Director - Jeremy Daalder

I created Image Science in March of 2002, as a side business to my photography. Over time Image Science has grown far beyond its humble beginnings and has become my main area of business. While I still do some commercial photography, the greater proportion of my time is now spent in helping others achieve their goals in imaging, through the provision of quality services and the supply of the most beautiful materials available in the world today.

A significant proportion of my time is spent in teaching, both privately to photographers, printers and studios, and previously at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), where I taught the Digital Fine Print course as part of the Commercial and Illustrative Photography degree program.

I have a clear philosophy on image making that I teach and work by, resting on two basic ideas. The first is that pre-visualisation and clear thinking about subject is of paramount importance in achieving your image making goals. The second is that mastery of craft (and use of the very best materials) forms the basis of good artistic expression. Without knowing what you want to achieve, and without learning and practicing the technical skills required to achieve it, you will never produce what you hope for.

Image Science has earned itself a real reputation for quality, value and exceptional levels of service, and this is very important to me. I believe that a business such as this thrives on co-operation with its clients, on an open and helpful attitude, and on good humour. I like to think our clients really enjoy their time working with us, and that we provide excellent value to them. Many of our clients have been with us since the beginning and have become good friends. We look forward to many more years of working together!

Director - Amy Daalder

Amy juggles the extensive duties of Image Science CFO - planning, risk management, analysis, general excel wizardry - with the demands of being a mother to two cheeky young ladies (see below!). With a degree in Marketing (and extensive experience of, and industry awards as well!), Amy is now focussing on strategic planning for Image Science in 2013.

Office Manager - Joanne Buck

Joanne Buck at Image Science Joanne Buck joined Image Science in February 2013. She has a similar background to Katie - in fact they went to Uni together in New Zealand. Joanne has a background in professional photography and marketing and strong admin skills, so is the perfect fit for our office manager role. She'll be working closely with Katie, our Product Manager, and is responsible for the day to day running of the good ship Image Science, particularly the retail side of things. She is the friendly voice on the phone you're most likely to reach when you call!

Services/Production Manager - Peter Daniells

Peter has been our services wizard since 2009. If you get services done at Image Science, you'll almost certainly be dealing with Pete. He manages all the machines and the production schedule and is remarkably good at it, getting job after job back in record time and with a very keen eye for quality control.

Peter is conscientious, unfailingly friendly, and does some pretty cool artwork of his own.  The office is a more enjoyable and productive place for his presence and we can't ask for more than that!

Product & Marketing Manager - Katie Knox

Katie Knox at Image Science Katie is just moving in to our Product and Marketing manager role early in 2013 (she was previously the office manager). Katie joined us in 2012 and is helping us get the Image Science message out to the people. She's from NZ but nobody's perfect huh? We're a little bit amazed at how quickly she's fit in and mastered her role, balancing the many and varied tasks she's responsible for with grace under pressure. Katie also does some professional photography so she's really a perfect fit here.

Aleda Small

Queen Leyna and Fairy Aleda

Leyna joined the Image Science team just over five years ago.
She is clearly the most productive member of the Image Science team if noise made and general energy level are anything to go by.

Aleda joined us in August 2010. She's a very cheeky little chatterbox!

(These images are a handy test for your monitor/browser - the image of Aleda to the right will appear noticeably too pink if you're using a wide gamut monitor and your browser is not colour managed. Try Firefox with colour management turned on for better results!)
