Image Science May 2006 Update

Hello

Website Re-Design

First, we've re-designed the website, to make it faster loading and less cluttered than before. There's more content than ever, but it's better organised and should help you find what you need more quickly. Hopefully we've given it a structure now that will suit us for the next few years as we continue to grow it into Australia's best photographic fine art website.  If you've got any pages inside the site linked in your bookmarks, they should still work, but you might want to update your bookmarks.  If you do find a link or anything else that doesn't work on the site, please let us know.

Re-designed Image Science Website

Congratulations Dean!

Second - a huge congratulations to one of our clients - Dean Cooper, for winning the Victorian Landscape Photographer of the Year award at this year's VPPYs. Dean runs a lovely gallery in Point Lonsdale and specialises in coastal landscapes. Dean has been a client of ours for a while now - we help him with his scanning and colour management, and his images were printed on Hahnemuehle Photo Rag with custom ICC profiles made here at Image Science. Dean is a lovely guy and his site is well worth a look.

Crane Silver Rag Printing Service

Thanks to the purchase of a second Epson 7800, we're now offering prints on the beautiful new Crane Silver Rag - so far only roll prints are available but sheet prints will show up soon once the sheets finally arrive!  This paper prints beautifully - rich and lush colour prints (they look like those beautiful dye-transfer prints!), and luminous black and whites of unheard of quality outside of the darkroom.

So if you're waiting for your order of Silver Rag or just want to see what all the fuss is about, give it a try!  We've just printed all the prints for Greta Costello's exhibition on Silver Rag and they look just superb!

(Greta's exhibition is called 'One Cup' and features beautiful images of East Timor shot in association with the new film 'One Cup at a Time'.    The exhibition runs from 6-14th of May at Gallery 314 - found at 314 Church St, Richmond).

Crane Silver Ra

We've sold out almost everything we have had through the door and the feedback has been great - stuff like "Wow", "Yummy", "Rich" and "I've finally found the paper I've been looking for"! If you haven't tried it yet, make sure you get yourself on the list for sheets, due very soon (still no exact date but we're first on the list as soon as Crane gets them out the door) and already the first order is almost sold out!!   Rolls AND sheets should both be flowing better in a few weeks - we're first in line, so as soon as Crane make it and send it, we'll be getting it out to you! 17" rolls in stock now!

Hahnemuehle Fine Art Pearl

Many of you have enquired about this paper - and yes, its on its way! This is Hahnemuehle's answer to Silver Rag.  Latest word we have is a small amount of stock arriving here mid to late May. If you're interested, let us know what you want and we'll add you to the list. We'll take paid up pre-orders once we have a better idea of a confirmed date, and will get in touch with you then. No pricing or other info yet - but I've seen samples and made a profile, it's very nice indeed.

Canson Watercolour Digital

Canson have just released an interesting new paper - it's a cotton rag paper, but it's pricing is pretty reasonable - more like a wood based paper. A bit warmer in tone that something like Photo Rag, it has a pleasing texture and would be well worth a look if you're after something a bit more affordable.

Paper Pricing

As part of the re-design, we've changed a lot of our paper pricing, with Canson and Arches in particular coming down in price! There's also a bunch of new available sizes now available - so make sure you check out the pages for your favourite papers and see what's new:

Neaten Up The Office Sale!

The office has just had a spring (well, autumn) clean, and we're just trying to neaten up our shelves a bit - so if you're after a bargain, have a look through this list:

(N.B. all items are in stock and ready to ship, prices valid only while stock lasts!)
