RGB Printer Profiling
Detailed Instructions
All RGB driven printers can be profiled, and there will always be considerable improvement. In general, the process is amazingly effective. The only times we have had troubles is when people have not followed the instructions precisely. Please don't hesitate to call us on (03) 9348 9808 at any stage if you would like us to help you through the process, we're happy to help! Please note, if you fail to follow the instructions, the process definitely won't work correctly and you'll need to re-print the targets and re-send them to us. There will also be an extra charge of $25 for us to re-do the profile using the correct targets.
Below you will find specific instructions for common printer types. Some things to note that are essential for good results with all printers:
- When you print the targets, give them several hours to dry before sending them to us. Even if the pages do not feel tacky, sometimes they stick together over time in the envelope. The best method is to send the pages with plain paper as dividers, or in plastic slips.
- You do not need to resize the targets in any way - please do not interpolate the files! Print the files as is, at the size tagged in the file (basically, one A4 page for each target).
- Write the settings you use down (or take some screenshots). It is imperative you follow the instructions precisely or the process will not have good results. Don't worry, it's all pretty simple!
- Any queries or questions as you go along, please call Jeremy on (03) 9348 9808.
- We have a printer test file available here. You can use this to evaluate your printer's performance currently, and indeed again when using you new profile. Instructions are included for evaluating the print.
- To get results that match your monitor as closely as possible, you really must also calibrate your monitor.
