Recently we bought two new televisions - a 42 inch plasma for the lounge room and 26" LCD for the bed room. The plasma in particular is amazing, and to be honest we haven't been to the movies in some time now! It's just so much easier to put your feet up at home, turn on the surround sound, and sit back and enjoy the movie experience. The popcorn is way cheaper too!
However, out of the box, both of these TVs (which are both top of the line models), had a picture that was very very good....but not perfect. The colour was a little 'Californian' (= orange skin tones!) and in general the picture was over-saturated and a little too biased to the warm end of the spectrum. Given I spend all day working on precisely calibrated monitors, it was irritating to be bothered by colour problems on a TV - surely natural, accurate colour wasn't too much to ask for?
It proved very difficult to calibrate the panels by eye using a random DVD or TV image. What I needed was a proper TV calibration system. However, none of my monitor calibrators can do it (and I own almost all of them!).

How does SpyderTV PRO™ 2007 work?
SpyderTV PRO™ 2007 uses an electronic colorimeter that is attached via USB cable to a PC and then attaches to the front of your TV screen. The sensor then analyses a series of test patterns coming from the DVD in your DVD player.
